Fish and Carp have been seen in Chinese Art since neolithic times. Their style has evolved over time and the perfection of realism in the Ming Dynasty. Our example is a pale yellow/white color with deep sharp carving completely resembling a real fish. The carp is known for its strength and bravery. The reverse side with mushroom design. The mushroom is a symbol of health and longevity. Approximately 4" long x 2 1/8" high x 1" deep. 17th/18th Century.
