The sculptor Katherine Thayer Hobson-Kraus (1889-1982) had studied at the Art Students League in New York City. In Dresden, she studied with the sculptor Walter Sintenius (1867-1911). While living in Germany in the 1920’s, Hobson-Kraus built a World War 1 memorial for Dresden.
