ARCHAISTIC SCABBARD SLIDE
17TH-18TH CENTURY
The rectangular slide curves under at the
ends, and is carved in low relief on the
front with a design of C-scrolls and dots. A
rectangular loop is on the reverse. The stone
is semi-translucent.

The slide is carved in the style of scabbard slides
of Han dynasty date, such as the example in
the British Museum illustrated by J. Rawson in
Chinese Jade: from the Neolithic to the Qing,
London, 1995, p. 300, no. 21:12.
